Monday: Getting Ready for “Indigenous Art Today”

On March 7th, at 9:30 am, we are all invited to a live virtual session with the National Gallery of Canada (distance education program) called Indigenous Art Today

“What is Indigenous art in Canada like today? Discover how Indigenous artists connect to tradition and invent new ways to make art.”

To prepare for this event, we will read and annotate “Telling their Stories or Opting out: Indigenous artists on Canada 150”.

Annotate using Hypothes.is:

  • Decide on a purpose question and add it to the article (see my example);
  • Highlight the thesis statement;
  • Highlight text that answers your purpose question and annotate with your thinking;
  • Identify at least three challenging words or unknown concepts/facts and annotate with definitions and/or explanations;
  • Make connections to ideas in the text and other texts or the world by including links in at least one annotation;
  • Ask questions of the text;
