LITERATURE CIRCLE DISCUSSION DAY

Move into your literature circle groups.

Choose a discussion director.

As the discussion unfolds and the questions you prepared are shared, add other’s thinking to your document. In other words, take brief notes during the discussion.

Set the timer for 15 minutes.

Using your CDNcraft Literature Meeting #2 notes to guide you discuss your book/play.

Share your document with me via the Assignment Submission page.

Complete the Literature Reflection Sheet.

Finally, work on your Mindomo map. The instructions are here.

I took some time this morning to peruse many of the Mindomo maps. Groups are doing an awesome job adding their thinking and most are using the colour coding appropriately.
I did notice that student thinking remains separate, for the most part. Please begin building onto each other’s thinking with the use of the purple box. There are lots of unique ideas and examples on the map, so what patterns or relationships do you see emerging from the group thinking? And then what to those relationships tell you about your theory?
It might then also be time for you to do some additional research. With new thinking, we need new sources of expertise to help us draw a conclusion (or answer the question).
Also, you need be adding sources for their information (white topic box). This is the research phase of the inquiry. You can access any of the articles, videos, guest speakers, etc. that you have accessed so far in the course that touch on your question.
Finally, consider if you want to meet with your group via hangouts to discuss your map and what you would like to build. You may want to build in Minecraft together.

MINDOMO INQUIRY GROUP WORK

You need to sign-up for your Mindomo Inquiry Group. The instructions are here.

The list of CDNcraft groups is here.

Once you have signed up for Mindomo, open your Inquiry Planning Page. Complete that planner using the learning we have done together this semester. Add as many details and questions as you can.

SHARE THE INQUIRY PLANNING PAGE WITH ME.

Once the planner is done go into your Mindomo Group. You can ONLY access your group through D2L.

Read what your group mates have added to the web.

Read the Mindomo instructions again. Notice that the colour of the buttons is MEANINGFUL.

You can include knowledge and information that will help you work towards responding to the question above. In addition to using the mindmap, you can also add posts in the discussion forum for your group. Please add at least THREE points to the mind map.

When creating information to the mind map please use one of the following prompts and the appropriate bubble color to go with it.

TO RECAP:

Have you prepared for Literature Meeting #2 that will be held tomorrow? See yesterday’s post.

Join Mindomo via the Wikwemikong Board

Complete the Inquiry Planner. Share the planner with me via ASSIGNMENT SUBMISSION PAGE

Using the coloured-coded buttons in the above chart, add at least three pieces of information to your group’s Mindomo Map.

NOTE: The knowledge that you build with your group is what will fuel your BUILD (the product that you make to answer the question: What does being a Great Canadian look like?). This could be in Minecraft. This could also be a page in the wiki: Global Perspectives. Or it could be something else.

This information could also be the research you use for your Research Project.

The point being get into this work.

Make it real for yourself.

Find a way to engage.

Mindomo Work DUE: MONDAY, MAY 1, IN CLASS.
