NOTE: PERMISSION FORMS FOR D2L AND MINECRAFT!!!!

One Independent novel to be finished by March 2nd. 

Today, we will work with Hypothes.is and article #2 as a whole class.  But first, I would like you to set a purpose for your reading. Here is the title of the article:

“Doctor gives First Nations child ‘Greetings Native Savages’ sticker”

Then we’ll move into reading our novels and tracking our reading.

Finally if we have time, we’ll break into groups.

Group 2 on devices:

  1. Check the tracking sheet. Leave a comment for items you have completed.
  2. Add a thank you to the padlet.
  3.  Finish your handshake (and post on D2L). See me for login information. If your have your permission form signed!
  4. Add a snap to for each of your 4 goals for the semester.
  5. Add week #1 reflection to Sesame: What did I learn?
  6. Wiki editing. Submit your Editing Sheet to the class bin.

Group 1 & 3:

  1. Complete the RWB article work: annotating for a purpose question
  2. Finish your research note from the first TRC article
  3. Finish Writing prompt #1
  4. Finish Reading log #1

If you are finished all of the above work, see me.

NOTE: One Independent novel to be finished by March 2nd. 

Today I will introduce you to Collaborative Annotation!

Hypothes.is set-up tutorial.

The tool we will be using is called Hypothes.is.

We will practice on Article #1.  When you get to the article, you will see an arrow for a menu in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

  • Click on the arrow.
  • Sign up
  • Add the extension to your browser
  • Go to your email and activate your account
  • Go back to your article and refresh
  • Sign in with your email address
  • Join  #craftreconciliation
  • Go back to Article#1. You should now see the group #craftreconciliation.

Once you are in, read the annotations in the sidebar. Notice that when you click on an annotation it is linked to part of the text (becomes highlighted in blue).

Respond to three of the existing annotations.

Group 1 on devices

  1. Check the tracking sheet. Leave a comment for items you have completed.
  2. Add responses to the collaborative annotation.
  3. Add a thank you to the padlet.
  4.  Finish your handshake (and post on D2L). See me for login information. If your have your permission form signed!
  5. Add a snap to for each of your 4 goals for the semester.
  6. Wiki editing. Submit your Editing Sheet to the class bin.

Groups 2 & 3
