“Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening”

or finish writing Line-by-Line summary for “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening”

Submit this work to me.

To get to the heart of the three themes of the course (Choice and Uncertainty, Individualism and Nonconformity, and Making Meaning), we began thinking about values and beliefs. We will continue this thinking via the short story form.

March 2

Short Day.

  1. “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening” by Robert Frost (5 minutes)
  2. Read Speaker, Setting, and Context analysis. (10 minutes)
  3. Log into Commonlit.org and complete “Stopping by the Woods on a Snowy Evening”.  Complete the following:
  • Guided questions
  • Assessment questions
  • Annotate the poem where you find the answer for each of the multiple-choice questions. Highlight and comment for each of the four questions.
  • Literary analysis (open response) question demands that you answer using the structured format. Review feedback on your previous Commonlit work and see OneNote: Content Library: Writing Tools: Structured Student Writing to review the format. (35 minutes)

4. Write a line-by-line summary of the poem. Use the work we did on “The Road Not Taken” to remind you of what a summary looks like. (20 minutes)

Note the times. You should be able to the end of #3 in class. If not, complete it for homework.

If you have questions, help each other out first. If that fails, contact me via Teams chat.

Have fun and see you tomorrow!
