The Autobiography

Review your paragraphs. What overall theme emerges? In three words, how would you describe your life?

  • Life is good
  • Life’s not fair
  • Life is messy.
  • Enjoying every minute
  • Waiting for independence
  • Finding my path
  • Finding my calling
  • Living it up
  • Busy, but enjoyable
  • Happy, but stressful
  • Still awaiting lift-off
  • Roller coaster ride
  • Looking to improve
  • Filled with drama
  • Family, friends, fun
  • Simple, difficult, amusing
  • Active, academic, hopeful
  • Messy, beautiful, challenging
  • Unpredictable, awful, wonderful

Paragraph 6: Favourite Holiday

In this paragraph describe the best holiday you have ever had. If you have not really had a holiday, describe how you imagine the perfect holiday.

Hints: This paragraph is very general and doesn’t give you specific subtopics. You can choose any three areas you want to explore. So if you went on a great holiday maybe your three subtopics would be: the location, the activities there, the sightseeing that you did. If you are creating an imaginary perfect holiday you might choose: the location, what you would do there and who you would bring with you. Again, you want to try to focus on three subtopics.

Paragraph 7: My Future

Imaging yourself 10 years in the future. What type of job would you like to have? Where will you be living? Would you like to have a family of your own or still be single? What will you do in your spare time?

Hints: This question is asking you four specific questions. You should answer all of them. Can you connect to some investigation on life after high school that you did in Careers class?

Now revise paragraphs one to five and add paragraphs six and seven. Submit all of your paragraphs to your teacher. You should have seven paragraphs in total. Also, you should make all of the changes that your teacher suggested to you. Your teacher will make suggestions for revision one final time and return these to you. In the next activity, you will submit your entire autobiography essay for final evaluation.
